Prospective Students

Astrophysics is one of the most interesting and exciting subjects to study, and developing an understanding of the nature and physics of the Universe is deeply rewarding.

Being based on a firm mathematical and physics foundation, it prepares a student for many careers both inside and outside of the field. ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûgives students an advantage by offering an integrated astronomy and astrophysics programme, rather than merely extending a basic physics degree with a few astronomy modules. Topics such as spectroscopy, thermodynamics and quantum theory are taught in an astrophysical context. One of the key areas that makes ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûstand out is that in-depth practical work takes place at theÌýÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûObservatory (UCLO), breeding a familiarity with instrumentation and methods.

Prospective students can find full details of the Astrophysics BSc and MSci degrees on offer at theÌýÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûprospectus for undergraduate courses.

If you are looking for an evening course in higher education you can visit the ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûCertificate of Higher Education in Astronomy page and have a look at our Certificate Information.
