Description
This course aims to assess part of the Year in Industry experience of a student enrolled in the final year of the MEng with Year in Industry programme. During the year in industry the student will work as part of a professional team alongside an industrial supervisor on one large project or a number of smaller projects. The project(s) will allow the student to get experience in and learn about bioprocessing and engineering practice. The student will document the work during the year as logbook, present it as a poster and compile a skills portfolio. In addition the student will act as peer reviewer and adviser for the design project of the 3rd year students.
Upon completion of the course, a student should be able to:
- Gain engineering practice learned in an industrial environment
- Gain depth of advanced engineering knowledge by working along industrialists on complex industrial projects
- Design whole bioprocess operations
- Experience/ gain basic knowledge of how to validate bioprocesses
- Apply knowledge gained through previous studies and problem-solving skills to tackle a real work challenge and meet clients鈥� needs under constraints
- Reflect on the experience and assess the work performed in the year in industry by completing a skills portfolio
- Present complex contexts clearly in a poster presentation
- Critically evaluate junior design projects with different remits
