Description

This module is for students who have successfully completed Level 1 of the target language, or who can demonstrate equivalent competence. The module consists of two components, comprehension and production, which are taught in conjunction. Students will work with a wide range of authentic spoken and written materials from predictable topic areas and gain skills in extracting required information from them and recording it accurately and coherently in English. They will manipulate the spoken and written language with appropriate and accurate use of lexis and grammatical structures in a variety of contexts and registers and speak with confidence and accuracy appropriate to this level about many aspects of life and culture in the region of the target language. Students will gain an understanding of translation by discussing problems of specific translations from and into the target language and tackle a range of texts. Students will progress their knowledge and active use of more complex grammatical structures and a wide range of vocabulary.
