Description

‘Teaching and Learning in Medicine 1’ will give you a detailed introduction on how to plan and structure teaching for different types of learners, how to evaluate teaching and recognise relevant theories and learning styles and critically reflect on teaching skills. The module assumes you have access to medical students or trainees but a formal role in medical education is not required. Applicants will need to demonstrate a passion for medical education.

After taking this module you should be able to recognise relevant educational theory and principles of learner-centred, interactive teaching, identify the different learning styles of yourselves and other participants and support learning accordingly. You will be able to write effective educational objectives and learning outcomes. You will learn how to plan, structure and deliver a teaching event. You will then use feedback that you have received on your teaching skills to help you develop further.

As well as this learning, you will write a literature review relating to method of teaching in a context that is relevant to your practice.
