Description

This module draws on a wide-range of academic research and professional experience to develop your skills in strategic management and leadership, human resource management and marketing. ÌýThese block modules are designed to be intense and stretch your thinking beyond traditional business and management boundaries to make important linkages in terms of the interdependences that exist when trying to be a strategic manager. You will be introduced to key theories and approaches to strategy while also discussing and conceptionalising their application in a healthcare setting. ÌýYou will develop an in-depth understanding of different theoretical perspectives as you explore a range of strategic and operational behaviours and approaches. ÌýYou will come to learn that the application of strategy requires continual engagement with human resource management. ÌýThis module will stimulate your critical awareness and application of key leadership and strategic management approaches. ÌýA number of case studies that pull the various topics together will be used to give you context to what you are learning. Lastly, we will introduce the role of marketing within organisations particularly in regards to how they are shaping organisations as well as consumer behaviour. ÌýHealth and healthcare are on the frontline of this new digital age not only in terms of diagnosis, but prevention and detection. ÌýMany of the strategic approaches being introduced in healthcare rely heavily on digital marketing and insights.Ìý

This module involves online preparation and reading prior to a four week block:
Week 1 – Strategy and Leadership
Week 2 – Human Resource Management
Week 3 – Marketing
Week 4 – Wrap upÌý

Wrap up week is dedicated to engaging with health professionals who work in the various themed areas that you have been discussing and evaluating over the previous three weeks. ÌýThey will take you through real world case studies that solidify the application of these themes to health and healthcare.
