Description

What might we mean by the phrase 鈥楽cience for All鈥�, and in what ways is this desirable or achievable? How is science not 鈥榝or all鈥� at the moment? In this module we tackle these questions and more, aiming to reflect on and understand inequity in science learning and research; and to learn about methods and practices being developed to address some of the issues.

During the first half of the module, you will learn about inequity in science from a variety of perspectives, analyse case studies using a problem-based learning approach, and develop a portfolio of work reflecting on your learning. Your individual coursework assignment offers optionality allowing you to pursue your own interests in relation to the module content in academic and/or creative ways.

Building on this reflective and theoretical foundation, you will then work in teams to plan a programme of science outreach activity including a Science Fair stand. You will develop the necessary practical skills through workshops and exhibition visit(s).
