Description

What might we mean by the phrase ‘Science for All’, and in what ways is this desirable or achievable? How is science not ‘for all’ at the moment? In this module we tackle these questions and more, aiming to reflect on and understand inequity in science learning and research; and to learn about methods and practices being developed to address some of the issues.

During the first half of the module, you will learn about inequity in science from a variety of perspectives, analyse case studies using a problem-based learning approach, and develop a portfolio of work reflecting on your learning. Your individual coursework assignment offers optionality allowing you to pursue your own interests in relation to the module content in academic and/or creative ways.

Building on this reflective and theoretical foundation, you will then work in teams to plan a programme of science outreach activity including a Science Fair stand. You will develop the necessary practical skills through workshops and exhibition visit(s).
