Description

The aim is to build on prior coverage within the BSc Psychology with Education to provide students with an understanding of a) the ways in which psychological and neuroscientific research has informed educational practice, especially within the UK; b) how evidence-based approaches to practice might be extended in future; and c) the factors which affect the translation of research evidence into viable practice. The module seeks to:

  • Ensure that students have a coherent understanding of the applications of psychology and neuroscience to education
  • Enable students to critically evaluate the main arguments regarding the application of research to educational practice, and the criteria by which its utility might be assessed
  • Enable students to understand key instances of application within the broader context of educational provision, and the benefits and limitations of these.
