Description
This module is designed for students who would like to develop theoretical knowledge, methodological expertise and employable skills in professional communication research and consultation. In ten weeks, students acquire a range of competencies in professional communication such as 1) identifying the language features of a given professional communication context, 2) developing effective communication training materials for business stakeholders of diverse cultural backgrounds and 3) conducting commissioned communication projects and providing communication consultation. The module adopts a case-study approach with cases covering an array of communication domains including public relations, business communication, crisis response and conflict management. Upon successful completion of the module, students will possess the ability to pursue further research in their chosen area of professional communication and undertake high-level communication consultation and project management in the industry.
