Level 6 delivery is restricted to students on the iBSc Sociology and Politics of Medicine and iBSc History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine programmes. Students that select the level 6 delivery that are not enrolled on either programme will have their module selection rejected.

Description

This module offers an intensive exploration of some central, on-going debates in philosophy of science. Topics include: scientific realism and antirealism; the nature of scientific explanation; and the status of laws of nature. Students also will consider applications to specific topics in current science. No pre-requisite philosophy of science knowledge required.
