Description

The module allows students to refine and consolidate technical skills gained in a prior module (Principles of treatment and development of technical skills for endodontics). This module consists of tutor and student-led laboratory exercises:

  • Operative technique course on simulated teeth in a phantom head for production of cast restorations from first principles. It incorporates refinement of hand-piece control and consolidation of technique and clinical protocol, particularly application of criteria for tooth restorability;
  • Course on functional waxing to construct occlusally correct cast restorations;

Endodontic technique course using rotary Nickel-titanium instrument systems and different thermoplasticised gutta-percha obturation techniques for management of a range of root canal systems.
