Description
This module aims to investigate and analyse the geographical, economic, political and cultural specificity of the Nordic region through an interdisciplinary approach drawing on aspects of urban and cultural geography, as well as cultural, historical and political study. The Nordic region represents a diverse subset of geographically contingent developments and approaches to issues of high contemporary relevance relating to the construction of societies and cultural ideologies, for example with regards to issues of urbanity, migration, identity, environment and sustainability. The module aims to broaden the understanding of representative areas of Nordic society in their geographical situatedness and impart specific knowledge of contemporary issues pertinent to understanding the Nordic region and the characteristics of its societies from a number of analytical perspectives. It will also function as a practice of regional study of societies, cities and regional geographies in general, and as such be of transferrable application to other regions and areas. Ìý
