Description

Module Aim:

The module is designed to provide a rigorous exploration of significant works of literature and culture from 1900 to the present-day; to examine a range of key critical debates and theoretical writings regarding this period; and to relate them to more contemporary literary, critical and theoretical issues and ideas.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, students will have:

- acquired systematic knowledge of significant works of literature and culture from 1900 to the present-day

- cultivated critical awareness of historical and ongoing issues by discussing theoretical and methodological problems about modernity and the present

- developed an advanced understanding of academic scholarship and theoretical frameworks in order to create and interpret new knowledge

- practised analytical and argumentative skills in oral and written communication
