Description

This module is an overview of management and leadership in the sector of non-profit and philanthropy for students from a diversity of backgrounds. The module introduces current concepts, theory, and practice on the management and leadership of non-profit organisations. It covers the context and the institutional setting of the non-profit sector, the difference between corporate and public management, operations, finance, people, and culture and governance.Ìý In addition, the module covers ethics, advocacy, and fundraising and the increasing demands and challenges on accountability, transparency, and demonstrating results and outcomes for non-profit organisations.Ìý The emerging phenomena of social entrepreneurship and social innovation and their implications for both non-profit and corporate sectors are also explored.
