Description

Module Content and Indicative Topics听

The module aims to: build on and improve students鈥� strategies and methods for language learning; build on and improve students鈥� language skills in speaking, understanding, writing and reading including elements of pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar; enable the students to express opinions and discuss various topics with some fluency in both speech and writing, and to understand and read authentic Danish texts at increasing levels of difficulty.听

听

Teaching Delivery听

There will be seminars each week, consisting of tutor-led discussions, communicative exercises,听various tasks including text-reading and discussion,听and student presentations.听The various activities will continually be evaluated and adapted to best听suit students鈥� needs.听

By the end of the module, you should be able to:听听

  1. Understand and communicate in Danish at B1鈥揃2 level (reading, writing, speaking and listening)听听

  1. Understand processes involved in language acquisition听

  1. Use strategies for听consolidating vocabulary and linguistic structures听

  1. Understand and employ grammatical and syntactical rules in Danish at an appropriate level听

  1. Use digital tools (e.g. text corpora) in the language learning process听

听

Recommended Reading听

In preparation for the听module, we advise that student acquire the following core texts.听听

  • Grammar: It is recommended that students have their own copy of R Allan, P Holmes & T听Lundsk忙r-Nielsen,听Danish. An Essential Grammar听(Routledge 2011).听

  • Dictionaries:听Dansk-engelsk听ordbog听&听Engelsk-dansk听ordbog听(Gyldendal) or similar. Make sure that the dictionary gives you the gender of nouns.听
