Description

1. To provide knowledge and understanding of ecological issues relevant to geography

2. To provide insights into pressing current environmental issues particularly relating to biodiversity conservation

3. To introduce practical ecological approaches applicable to 3rd year dissertation work on sampling approaches and strategies

Subjects covered may for example include species definitions, ecological niche theory, biogeography, biodiversity and its conservation, interspecific interactions, ecosystem functioning and ecological surveying.

This module incorporates careers skills that range from team working, presenting of an ecological argument, time management, basic ecological surveying and plant identification to critical thinking.
