Description

Students are required to write a 10,000-word MSc thesis during the third term and throughout the summer period to complete the programme. This represents a piece of in-depth, original research. Students choose either to develop their own topic or can choose from a range of topics suggested by members of staff. Students may optionally work on topics suggested by external organisations (e.g., by government, industry, or external research institutions), with express approval of the Dissertation Tutor and programme. The dissertation provides flexibility for students to follow their interests and pursue a wide variety of topics and methods, provided that these fall within the main themes of the course and the expertise of the supervisory staff. The dissertation is supervised by a member of ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûstaff, but is largely self-directed, allowing the student to develop independent project management and research skills. All MSc students will be asked to inform the Dissertation Tutor about potential dissertation topics half-way through the second term of the academic year and will be supported through research ethics. Students on MSc EPEE are supported in developing research skills for the dissertation through the Research Concepts (BENV0010) module.Ìý
