Description

Module overview

The module is divided into 4 units. Each unit contains some useful information and guidance in order to complete a series of tasks. This module requires you to be self-directed and focused, we offer activities that will lead you in the right direction but听also encourage you to explore the vast amount of research available on this evolving topic.

Unit 1:- This is a contact day where students can meet and discuss the fundamentals of simulation as well as sharing their simulation experiences.

Unit 2:- This unit will explore the most commonly used types of simulation methods and simulators used in practice today, this is particularly useful for candidates who have little simulation experience.

Unit 3:- This examines the pedagogy supporting simulation teaching and learning, emphasizing the importance of understanding 鈥渉ow鈥 students learn.

Unit 4:- One of the most significant aspects of a simulation activity is the debriefing and feedback element. This unit aims to explore the various models and tools to assist both teacher and learner in this often-challenging part of the process.

Aims

This module will give participants the knowledge and skills to:

  • Focus on the use of simulation in Clinical Education
  • Enable participants to explore the world of simulation in the clinical environment focusing on educational processes
  • Provide an opportunity to broaden understanding of simulation in action and its impact on learners

The module will explore the pedagogical basis of simulation activities alongside varied theoretical approaches to learning and teaching.

Participants will have the opportunity for group discussion from experiences both past and present enabling peer to peer learning and reflection.

Module Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module participants will be able to:

  • Critically evaluate current literature regarding simulation in clinical practice
  • Outline the pedagogical implications of simulation in action
  • Explore how to develop an effective simulation experience for healthcare providers
  • Explain how to integrate simulation into their own teaching and clinical practice

Mode of Delivery

One Virtual/Synchronised day听and online听learning through a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

The virtual learning element of the module will be accompanied by a Virtual/Synchronised day at the beginning of the module. The introductory day will allow participants to orientate themselves in person at the beginning of the module, meet their tutors and each other and engender engagement with and commitment to the module.

Formative Assessment

Student progress will be monitored throughout the module, they will be expected to produce at least one post per activity in order to achieve optimum understanding and engagement on which they will receive peer and tutor feedback.

Summative听 Assessment

Students will be required to submit a 15 minute pre-recorded video presentation which will explore an aspect/s of clinical simulation that is relevant to their current practice and demonstrate knowledge and understanding from key aspects of the course. The video submission should be supported with relevant literature

Engagement Requirements

新香港六合彩开奖结果expects students to attend all the scheduled learning events which appear on their timetable as this gives students the best chance of academic success. This includes all events set out in the Programme handbook or those provided to students during a module, including personal tutorials.

Students are expected to engage fully with their online learning, both synchronous sessions and self-directed study.听 Faculty require a minimum of 50% attendance of all teaching events. This minimum 50% includes all compulsory synchronous sessions on the module timetable.听 Synchronous sessions can only be missed in exceptional circumstances. 听Students are required to notify PGME in advance if they cannot attend the compulsory sessions.
