Professor Alex Mills appointed as General Editor of International & Comparative Law Quarterly

The journal is published by the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL), one of the world鈥檚 leading independent research centres for international and comparative law.

Professor Alex Mills

(Professor of Public and Private International Law at ) has been appointed as General Editor of the International & Comparative Law Quarterly (ICLQ). Professor Mills first joined the ICLQ as a member of the Editorial Board in 2016.

Professor Mills鈥 research encompasses a range of foundational issues across public and private international law, as well as international investment law and commercial arbitration.聽Professor Mills has published widely in the fields of public and private international law, and has authored (Cambridge University Press, 2009) and (Cambridge University Press, 2018). He is also a co-author of (15th edition, 2017), and a specialist editor for (16th edition, 2022). Professor Mills has been consulted on public and private international law issues by government departments, legal practitioners and non-governmental organisations.

Speaking about the appointment, Professor Mills said:

The journal has such a unique and distinguished history, and makes an important contribution to each of the fields it covers. It's been a pleasure to serve on the ICLQ Editorial Board for the past seven years, under the brilliant leadership of Sir Malcolm Evans, and I look forward to this new chapter in my work with the journal.鈥

The ICLQ publishes papers on public and private international law, comparative law, human rights and European law, and is one of the world's leading journals covering all these areas. Since it was founded in 1952 the ICLQ has built a reputation for publishing innovative and original articles within the various fields, and also spanning them, exploring the connections between the subject areas. It offers both academics and practitioners wide topical coverage, without compromising rigorous editorial standards, and continues to attract scholarship of the highest standard from around the world.
