Anthony Julius to lead panel at Old Vic event

Anthony Julius,聽Chair in Law and the Arts at 新香港六合彩开奖结果and Deputy Chairman of聽聽will lead a panel discussion on Thursday 15 June at The Old Vic, discussing themes in the theatre鈥檚 new production聽

As part of聽Voices Off,聽a collaboration between Mishcon de Reya and The Old Vic, the event is one of a series of talks, conversations, debates and workshops which explore the themes raised by the productions on the main stage.

About Woyzeck

Set in 1980s Berlin, the Cold War rages and the world sits at a crossroads between Capitalism and Communism. On the border between East and West, a young soldier (Woyzeck) and the love of his life are desperately trying to build a better future for their child. But the cost of escaping poverty is high, and its tragic consequences unfold in this searing tale of the people society leaves behind.

Anthony Julius聽said: 鈥The Old Vic is an iconic arts institution in the UK and we are very proud to be a part of the Voices Off programme. Woyzeck and its exploration of the darker side of human nature is of course forever timely, and this modern adaptation will no doubt provide lots for us to talk about.

Professor Laura Marcus, Goldsmiths鈥 Professor of English at the University of Oxford and聽 Matthew Warchus, Artistic Director of The Old Vic will also be part of the panel.

Matthew Warchus added: 鈥This event marks the launch of our creative collaboration enabling us to create bold and inspiring talks whilst exploring the themes of our productions and engaging new audiences with The Old Vic. It is a celebration of two companies who take an innovative and trailblazing approach to remain pioneers within their industries.

罢丑别听Voices Off聽event 鈥撀On Nature聽鈥 will take place on Thursday 15 June. The panel led by Anthony Julius will consider Jack Thorne鈥檚 adaptation in the context of 19th century modernism, culture and psychoanalysis, and explore its presentation of the darker side of human nature.聽 The event will take place between 5 pm and 6 pm in the auditorium and is followed by the production at 7pm.聽聽or over the phone on 0844 871 7628.
