Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Dean, ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûFaculty of Laws, this week hosted ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûPresident and Provost  for a tour of the home of ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûLaws, Bentham House, while it undergoes a £21.7 million, three-year redevelopment project.

Professor Arthur was shown some of  including the new fifth floor suite which will become a dedicated legal research centre, and the new student social hub, which will adjoin teaching and event spaces.

Professor Arthur said:

‘I was delighted to see first-hand how the redevelopment of the historic home of ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûLaws is progressing, thanks to a tour from Professor Dame Hazel Genn and the project team.

While the building is still heavily under construction, it’s clear to see the potential the project has to give the Faculty the modern, spacious home it needs, and how staff and students alike will benefit from this extensive redevelopment programme.

I was particularly impressed that space for students will be thoughtfully integrated into the very heart of the building, which will be wonderful for student engagement and a real sense of belonging to the ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûFaculty of Laws.’

Professor Dame Hazel Genn said:

‘It was a pleasure to welcome Professor Arthur to Bentham House, and show him the vision for the future of Bentham House and ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûLaws.

The progress being made on the project is clear to see, and as a Faculty we are counting down to re-entry in late 2017. The support given to the redevelopment by the Provost, and the wider project team, has been vital to the success of the project so far.’
