Internet of Things Wi-Fi at UCL

The Internet of Things (IoT) Wireless service across ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûmain campus and ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûEast will provide a means for customers to connect IoT devices using wireless externally to the internet.

The service will allow customers to connect devices to the IoT Wi-Fi service giving connectivity to the internet only, segregated from the main ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûinternal network. By default, no devices will be able to communicate with each other.

Once the device has been added by the departmental representative/sponsor, all devices will be centrally authenticated by our Aruba Clear Pass Policy Manager based on Mac address.

Devices will be allowed to remain within the Guest repository for a maximum of six months. If the device has not authenticated during this time the central policy manager will automatically remove the device from the repository, an email will be sent 30 days in advance of expiry.

Requesting Access to IoT Self Device Provisioning Portal

To request access to the IoT Wireless service, please click on the link below and complete the form to capture the requirements.  The Network Platform team will use this information to set up the relevant access to the IoT service and contact the requester.

This service is strictly for ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûstaff use, and requests can only be accepted by ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûstaff with requirements to connect devices to the IoT WiFi service which otherwise cannot connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi service.

Self-registering Devices for IoT Wi-Fi Authentication

Once your request has been successfully actioned the IoT device can be added to our Aruba Clear Pass Guest platform by departmental representatives and sponsors using the self-device provisioning portal. The representative / sponsor will be the single point of contact to manage devices within their department.

Once devices are added, they can be managed using the Self Device Provisioning portal.
