Project summary

During his time at the Centre for Capitalism Studies, Dr Samman will be working on a project with the title Currency of Nihilism. This project aims to bring the financial status of contemporary nihilism into historical focus, spotlighting the signal moods and structural dynamics of nihilism in a digital-financial key. This will be the basis for a new theory of financial nihilism that connects global psychological trends to the latest developments in world finance. Dr Samman’s work intersects with the Centre’s emphasis on interdisciplinarity and its focus on the financial aspect of capitalism. His project will contribute to the Centre by developing a novel history of economic nihilism and its financialisation.
