A Centre of Excellence since 2016
Jean Monnet Centres of Excellence are focal points of competence and knowledge on European Union subjects, funded under the EU鈥檚 Erasmus+ Programme.听
We were first awarded this status in 2016, and听then again听in 2019 and听2023. Organised in thematic strands, our programmes have enabled听projects led by academic colleagues from across UCL.听

听Current programme: 2023-2026
Embedded in our core business activities and framed by an impact and dissemination strategy, the programme is structured around four thematic Work Packages. Each addresses a topical policy field for today鈥檚 EU.
Here we听pair听UCL鈥檚 foremost expert on Russian politics, , with the UK鈥檚 leading think tank on Europe, the , to deliver analysis and knowledge exchange on Russia鈥檚 war on Ukraine and the future of Europe鈥檚 security architecture, developing events and resources for UK and European policy communities.We are听partnering with Prof. Michael Grubb of UCL鈥檚 Institute of Sustainable Resources to co-deliver the stakeholder engagement and knowledge exchange dimension of a two-year, part externally-funded听research programme, designed to inform policy on UK-EU electricity trading and the economics of industrial decarbonisation.We are building new research clusters comprising 新香港六合彩开奖结果academics from 12 departments to interrogate the presumption of whiteness in the study of Europe, and to develop an online European Literary Map of London. The map is designed with EU National Institutes of Culture as a teaching, research and public engagement tool.Together with Dr Oliver Gerstenberg, we will convene a workshop with senior academics and judges to shape scholarly and juridical discourse around Europe鈥檚 constitutional identity, exploring the potential for an edited volume on this topic.听
