About

The 2020-2021 graduates of Design for Manufacture MArch, Design for Performance & Interaction MArch and Situated Practice MA will exhibit their work to industry, academics and the general public, showcasing fifteen months of studying, development and experimentation. 

Exhibited over two weeks in the school's bespoke digital exhibition space, the work is radically diverse, exploring and creating new forms of practice.

Exhibiting Programmes

Alongside them, Design for Performance & Interaction students have explored the intersections of performance and spatial design, the arts and technology, the physical and the virtual. Their collaborative, 'anti-disciplinary' projects challenge the conventions of performance, and consider objects, space, people and systems as potential performers.

Working across and between the boundaries of art and architecture, Situated Practice students have studied critical theories and concepts of place and situation to produce their own situated practices in a range of media. They have engaged with a plethora of places and publics, collaborating with their local communities in London and critically commenting on wider social, cultural and geopolitical discourses.

Access

Fifteen will take place online at the school's award-winning website at . This bespoke platform offers visitors different ways to explore and experience the work, from virtual, walk-through exhibition halls to searchable catalogues providing an in-depth view into each project.

Show Launch

13:00, Friday 14 January

The show will launch live on YouTube with an introduction from the Dean of The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, the Director of School and words from the Programme Directors. The show prizewinners will also be announced. 

Design for Performance & Interaction: Graduate Projects Showcase

An online presentation of the Graduate projects that have achieved distinctions from Design for Performance & Interaction MArch. 

This event gives the students who have achieved distinction from the 2020-21 cohort of Design for Performance & Interaction MArch an opportunity to present their work to the public. 

In a year of global pandemic, Design for Performance & Interaction MArch has responded to emerging challenges of remote interaction. The programme has examined the impact of social isolation, the loss of tactile and other sensory cues, new forms of virtual representation to express embodied interactions, and new models of teaching and collaboration through multi-modal broadcasting and tele-robotic technologies. 

This year students are presenting interactive installations, wearable technologies, experimental robotics, sound art and spatial games, both local and remote.

Situated Practice Live: Fragile Futures

A live review of projects from Situated Practice MA broadcast live on YouTube.   

This event gives students from the 2020-21 cohort of Situated Practice MA an opportunity to present their work to the public.  

Projects this year explore issues from a world facing an increasingly fragile future. They explore subjects including the loss of natural resources due to increasing industrialisation; surveillance and information manipulation; the erosion of land due to climate change; the displacement of traditional architecture practices; mass-media responses to the Covid pandemic; the choreography of memory in faded military landscapes; ecological intelligence of veteran trees; sites of material extraction and conditions of displacement and longing towards home.
