Biography
Iwan Morgan is Emeritus Professor of United States History听at the Institute of the Americas, University College London.
He holds a BA in History from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and a PhD in International History from the London School of Economics.听
He served as chair of the executive committee of the Historians of the Twentieth Century United States from 2007 to 2013 and was a member of the executive committee of the British Association of American Studies in 2009-2012.听
Professor Morgan is a distinguished fellow of the Rothermere American Institute, University of Oxford. He was awarded the British Association of American Studies Honorary听Fellowship in 2014 in recognition of his contributions to the discipline over the course of his career.
He retired in 2020.
Research Summary
Professor Morgan has published widely in various fields of modern US political history and in political economy. Much of his work has a presidential focus.听
His monograph,听听(Kansas University Press, 2009), won the听American Politics Group's 2010 Richard Neustadt Book Prize. His biography,听(I.B. Tauris) was named a听Times/ Sunday Times听Politics Book of the Year in 2016.听
In addition to single-authored books, he has edited or co-edited numerous studies, including: (with Philip John Davies) 听(Edinburgh University Press, 2016) and (with Robert Mason)听
His latest book, is due for publication by I.B Tauris/Bloomsbury in July 2022.
