Based at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London, UCL's new space at Here East is a unique collaboration between The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment and the Faculty of Engineering Science. Discover the innovative programmes and cutting-edge facilities on offer here.

UCL’s new 6,000 sqm technology and creative campus in East London is a place where architects, engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians, anthropologists and many others are working side-by-side, interacting with nearby entrepreneurs, performers and researchers

A joint venture between UCL’s Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment and Faculty of Engineering Sciences, ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûat Here East houses a unique fabrication, robotics, and prototyping facility alongside world-class programmes, short courses, and research.

The site allows the university to explore new areas of academic study, including a new undergraduate degree in Engineering and Architectural Design. It provides a catalyst for new conversations and new ways of thinking – a place where different communities can educate and inspire each other.

The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction 

Centre for Moisture in Buildings

ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûat Here East is the new home of the UK Centre for Moisture in Buildings, an organisation established to break down barriers between research, teaching and engagement with industry.

This independent, not-for-profit, public-good organisation is run by University College London, the Building Research Establishment (BRE), Heriot Watt University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The Global Disability Innovation Hub

The Global Disability Innovation Hub is a collaborative organisation born out of the legacy of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. It works with local communities, academics, experts and disabled people to drive innovation, co-design and creative thinking.

The hub aims change the way we think about disability through co-design, collaboration, and innovation. It was founded by Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, UCL, UAL: London College of Fashion, Loughborough University London, Leonard Cheshire Disability, V&A, Sadler’s Wells and The Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design.

Here East provides a free bus service to StratfordÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýStratford International stations (five-minute journey time). Buses run approximately every five minutes, 7am to 10.30pm, Monday to Friday. Bus stop is near the entrance to ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûat Here East: just hop on/off.

Here East – London's home for making

ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûat Here East is part of the wider Here East project, based near Stratford in the heart of East London. This huge development is home to both big names and start-ups in the fields of tech, media, education and data.

What is Here East?

Here East was formed to regenerate the 2012 Olympic Broadcast Centre by providing over a million square feet of versatile spaces for creative and digital companies. It includes shared workspaces and public areas to foster a tight community, alongside a landscaped canalside and artisan cafés, shops and restaurants. 

The site is currently home to a range of organisations including Studio Wayne McGreggor, Loughborough University London, Ford's Smart Mobility Hub, BT Sport, 3D printing and VR studio Hobs and technology and innovation centre Plexal.

Facilities at Here East

These include: high-speed internet, printing, cashpoint, delivery boxes, free daily fitness classes, changing rooms and showers, and reception concierge services (including dry-cleaning), among others.

Eating and drinking: a range of restaurants, bars and cafés are located nearby, including on Canalside – and there are street food stalls every Friday in the Yard.

Students and staff can tap into all the local culture and creativity that East London offers, and benefit from the immediate surroundings of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The Canary Wharf financial district, London City Airport and the retail and transport hub at Stratford are all close by.

ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûhas recently opened , a new campus also based in Stratford's  in East London. It is the biggest expansion in our history and will give us the extra teaching, learning and research space we need to find solutions to the biggest challenges facing people and the planet.

Students on different courses will study in accessible, state-of-the-art facilities with shared labs and workshop spaces open to all. There is brand new student accommodation on site too.

ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûEast degrees

All degrees based at  allow for collaboration across different disciplines, with hands on teaching and learning, and opportunities for project working.

We’re bringing diverse talents and minds together to make an impact in the world and create professional networks and friends for life.

Facilities

ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûstudents based at Here East will be welcome to use the facilities on the ÐÂÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûEast campus. There is a café and shop in One Pool Street and the Marshgate building, which opens in 2023, will include a library, refectory and a wide range of study, social and practical facilities.

Our new campus is part of , the education, innovation and cultural Olympic legacy of London 2012, with our partners the BBC, V&A, Sadler’s Wells and UAL London College of Fashion.
